What an amazing community we have here in Golden Bay.
Yesterday, Nikau Café & Bar proudly got behind Blue September, raising funds and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand – and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the day such a success.
Whether you came along, made a donation, joined in the fun, helped us spread the word or simply showed your support, you were part of it.
Every dollar raised from our fundraiser is going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand.
Blue September is an important reminder for all of us to look out for the men in our lives. Around 1 in 8 New Zealand men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, and more than 4,000 Kiwi men are diagnosed each year.
Funds raised through Blue September help the Prostate Cancer Foundation support men and their families affected by prostate cancer, as well as supporting research, education, awareness and advocacy for better prostate cancer care throughout New Zealand.
For us at Nikau, yesterday was also about something we value enormously – community.
Golden Bay has a wonderful way of getting behind people and causes that matter. Seeing our locals come together, have a good time and help raise money for such an important cause reminded us again how lucky we are to be part of this community.
