Nikau Cafe & Bar Takes on Burger Nelson Tasman 2026 with the Dirty Bird Deluxe

We're excited to announce that Nikau Cafe & Bar has officially entered the Burger Nelson Tasman 2026 competition with our latest creation – the Dirty Bird Deluxe.

From 15 June to 12 July, burger lovers from across the region will be exploring the Nelson Tasman burger trail, and we're proud to be representing beautiful Golden Bay with a burger that packs plenty of flavour, crunch and attitude.

Meet the Dirty Bird Deluxe

The Dirty Bird Deluxe starts with a succulent crispy chicken breast, cooked to golden perfection and layered with smoky bacon, melted cheese, fresh greens, tomato and pickles.

To finish, we've added our signature combination of chipotle mayo and hot jalapeño-infused honey, creating the perfect balance of smoky, sweet and spicy flavours in every bite.

It's bold, messy and absolutely delicious.

Why We Created It

At Nikau, we believe great food should bring people together. The Burger Nelson Tasman competition is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate local hospitality, showcase creativity and encourage people to explore the incredible eateries throughout our region.

We wanted to create a burger that reflects everything we love about casual dining – quality ingredients, generous portions and unforgettable flavour.
